Yes, of course. I worship a God who immolated himself on a cross for the world. I agree we should not go about our lives in selfish disregard for the lives of other people. We should also be very careful to not attribute only selfish disregard to everyone who does not do as we ourselves do. Because people are so very different there seems to me to be room for different approaches here.
